Ryuichi Hatake
<Jungle> | 23 | Demiromantic
Full name: 畠, 竜一, or Hatake, Ryuichi. He frankly doesn't care what you call him.
Gender: Male
Occupation: Switches between being a worker at your nearest pet store and an underground fighter. Also, you know, a <jungle> member.
Home: In a shitty apartment in Shizume Town, with a drug addict roommate who barely remembers his name and even their own sometimes. Although, it might as well just be his own from how often his roommate is actually there.
Face Claim: Yan Qing (listed as Shinjuku Assassin on zerochan) from Fate/Grand Order
Appearance:

Hair: His hair is simply a straight black, the most simple bit about it really, and the majority of it ends at his thighs. Strands by his face, however, are cut shorter than the rest of it to reach halfway down his neck so that less of it ends up in his face, and they end up framing his face. Often times he will braid it in order to to handle it better on missions.
Eyes: The best way to describe his eyes would be to call them a swamp green color, though he does have flecks of yellow around the irises.
Height: 5' 6"
Weight: 137 lbs
Unique Features:
- he has numerous tattoos that are shown with little thought, from the large red roses climbing up from his stomach all the way up to his left shoulder, to the green and black dragon climbing down his back, the tail resting on his neck and the head curving by his spine.
- his light skin is marred all over by scars that never quite healed correctly
- he pierced his right ear and his tongue.
- body is thin and slightly built with muscles all over, from his abdomen to his arms and legs
- light skin marred by various scars that are just normal for him.
- large hands that are rough from callouses
- sharp facial features
- diamond shaped face
- casual attire is usually long trousers and scuffed up, aged sneakers.
- combat attire consists of sleeves, arm guards, and long pants kept in place with a band of metal at his waist.
- shirts are sometimes things he forgoes in favor of breeze, but cold weather has him curling up in a thick, white wool sweater.
- occasionally wears golden or black piercing rings, though will just as easily go without them.
- he hates hats, but will wear beanies if it is cold.

When it comes to people, Ryuichi is not the type of guy one would introduce to their parents. Or their family in general. In fact, it is doubtful that anyone will want to, the reason simply being his abrasive and brash nature. He is not a friendly or bubbly person, even at work, as he simply finds it a waste of time. He is impatient around people, twitchy and on edge, and overall distrustful of even people who appear to have "good" intentions. Combined with the fact that he quickly becomes awkward or rude in conversations after a period of time, as he is unused to drawn out interactions, it isn't farfetched to call him antisocial. (Which, for the record, he agrees with, because he'd rather read the newest chapter of My Hero Academia than listen through another second of worthless talking from anyone.) He is critical and judgmental at the best of times, unafraid to call out somebody's failure and laugh at them, and outright cruel at the worst of times. To top it off, Ryuichi is rather crude as well, unafraid to ask or state something nasty as though it were an everyday thing in a bland tone.
There's a big contrast in his personality, easily noticed no matter how much he tries to hide it, when he's around more people than he's comfortable with and when he's only stuck with a person or two. More people have him acting more aggressive and sadistic, always needing the last word and acting standoffish. He is not receptive to long discussions, often choosing to ignore them completely until he is mentioned. When away from people, he is more relaxed, willing to contribute to conversation even if it becomes awkward, and considerably more peaceful, even if some of his words will remain slightly barbed.
Over all, Ryuichi is extremely cynical and pessimistic of the world around him, expecting good times to fall apart with ease and expecting the worst in people. As such, he rarely is loyal, expecting that loyalty to be betrayed and abused quickly, and has only been loyal to a handful of people in his life after they had given him a reason to trust them. Ryuichi would abandon even his clan members without a thought if they proved to be an inconvenience, leaving them to die or be thrown in prison like common rabble. He is secretive and dishonest, capable of masking his emotions with a blank expression or a dull smile, and many will never realize that he is withholding information because of it. Needless to say he is very selfish, taking all that could be helpful to people in need and taking it all for himself.
Intelligence wise, Ryuichi is quite lacking in terms of academic smarts due to often skipping classes all throughout his school years before dropping out altogether in high school, but makes up for this with his incredible battle instincts and his experience. Combined with common sense, he can make sense out of situations quite quickly without all of the unnecessary vocabulary and data thrown in. He is sensitive about his lacking education, however, quick to snap when judged or viewed lesser because of it.
Background:

••••••
Birthplace: born in Shanghai, China, to a Chinese mother and a Japanese father.
Family: not exactly on the best terms with his family, even if he gets wrangled into talking with his uncle; he does have a cousin, however, on his father's side.
History: Ryuichi is a prime example of the idea that violence isn't born with the child, but rather taught to the child. Young Ryuichi was soft-spoken and so hopeful, even in the poor lifestyle that had his parents almost drowning in work and him alone, waiting at home with the grouchy house cat or helping his mother carry around boxes in her job on the corner market five blocks away from home. He loved to explore, already more than listening to grown ups that were supposed to watch him for his parents but gossiped about them instead and left him to wander, and it made sense that he would jump at any offers of adventures.
He only really has foggy memories of his parents at the current time, more guesswork than anything, but he knew that they were always tired and always wanting more than they already had. His father borrowed money from his brother, lots of it, perhaps expecting some forgiveness. His mother walked on streets late at night, working with her body when her night jobs didn't pan out or were closed for the night. Anything for an extra bit of yuan to immediately waste. They worked hard, he remembered that much, but he always remembered them coming back with something needles and pills, and so he figured they simply weren't good at impulse control.
His memories of his uncle are far more clear, given that his father practically sold him to the man in exchange for his debt being cleared and given that he lived with the man in Japan for the rest of his adolescence. His uncle was the head of various operations, the specifics of which remained out of his reach since he was never important enough to share it with. One of them was underground fighting, which he decided Ryuichi would be good for due to his size, back then a scrawny thing. He was literally tossed into a ring two days after he settled his single box of belonging into his uncle's closet, and forced to fight children. When Ryuichi refused, calling for his uncle, objects were thrown repeatedly at him in protest and his child opponent slammed his head into the wall.
Once Ryuichi used to entertain the idea that his life could have been different if his father could have looked past his need for money and drugs, the desperation leaving him unhinged enough to trade away kin. By now it's a dead train of thought, always ending at "what if" and leading away into more useful things.
His uncle tried to bribe him into fighting for months, fighting back, anyway, since his uncle would throw him into the ring regardless. Sweets. Toys. Pictures. He did not care for bruises and pained whines until it proved to be caused by broken bones, more focused on yelling and pleading the boy to actually be useful for once in his life. He was taught that violence was good and suggested, needed even, but he never really twisted himself into it until the ring had knives thrown into it and he was stabbed by another child. The next fight had him clubbing another one apprehensively, much to his uncle's approval.
The more Ryuichi fought back, the kinder his uncle was to him. Which, granted, wasn't that much better, but sitting with Ryuichi while he ate ice cream was always nice, even if he was complaining about prostitutes running out on him more often than not. But Ryuichi was awarded when he won, and punished for when he reverted back into the state of a lost child. Winning became his goal, not because of the small share of money he was awarded, but because of the twisted pride in his uncle's voice when he finally told the boy he'd be worth something. (In the midst of this, his parents never called, never asked about him, never acknowledged his existence or absence, or what they did, and so such pride for him felt like gold.) And so, he grew eager to fight, grew eager to make it bloody, because the messier the fight was the louder the cheers.
If his uncle had had his way, Ryuichi likely would have stayed solely an underground fighter. But at the age ten, his uncle enrolled him into school to soothe suspicious neighbors, with strict instruction and threats of what would happen if he ever missed a fight. The boy hated it from the first day, being shoved into a large space full of students his age when all he had ever thought for the past couple of years was how to incapacitate them. His classmates dogged at him eagerly when he first enrolled halfway through the year, tugging at his arm and speaking loudly into his ears. And, when he proved to be less than cheery about such attempts to garner his attention, they turned to gossip and defamation. No one could bully him, not physically anyway, because Ryuichi never hesitated to slam a classmate into a wall or a metal bar if they got too aggressive. He skipped and ditched classes more often than not, much to his teachers' chagrin, and it became a habit to continue all throughout his school years until he just simply dropped out in the first year of high school.
As he grew, Ryuichi became more formidable as a fighter, becoming proficient in bladed weapons as they grew more popular with older combatants, vicious and excited for each fight. Bloodshed was common, and dead opponents weren't exactly against the rules in later years. He didn't always win, of course not, but those lost matches were close things, and it became rarer for him to lose each time. He loved fighting, really, likely would have happily devoted his life until it was cut short. But, well, betrayal never did sit well with him, and that was what it was, no matter how much his uncle tries to change the subject and blame Ryuichi.
In his first year of high school, there was a match he was supposed to lose. There was a bigger payoff if he did apparently, and some bigwig in the underground society was wanting a share. So his uncle drugged him before his fight, leaving him to be brutally wounded as reactions were slowed and strength was weakened. He was left in the hospital for weeks, with no visitors and staring at concerned doctors with bared teeth. He moved out from his uncle's house, threatening to kill the man if he ever got too close again, and promptly dropped out of high school to focus on work.
Discovering <jungle> was an accident really, an overheard conversation that left him curious. He searched for it on a stolen computer after a fight, and found it interesting enough to join it out of a whim. Now he enjoys it as much as fighting, the extra power and the bloody jobs that he often takes.

Abilities: Ryuichi is a U Rank <jungle> member, and has been a member for years. He has grown accustomed to using aura in short bursts and using his rank's abilities to bypass physics completely. Physical strength and bladed weapons are what he amplifies with his aura, his dangerous skills made lethal, but there are times he will have to do without and instead depend on smaller aspects of the aura's abilities, such as electricity, and resourcefulness, as he will physically get sick from using the physics portion of the aura too much. Call it a mental block or motion sickness, but going through and walking up walls just makes him want to puke after a point. (Which is kind of funny, because flipping in the air doesn't do that to him, nor does spinning, just going through fifteen or more walls kinda makes him lean over and vomit.)
Trivia:
- his mother and father have tried getting into contact after all these years, but Ryuichi won't give them the time of day.
- unlike other U Rank members who rushed to get here, Ryuichi has been a member of <jungle> for years, chipping away at it because he's more focused on having fun with it and testing things out instead of meeting some king; but, then, he also doesn't want to feel obligated to be loyal to a king he's never met either, as J Rank members are apparently inclined to do, and so he doesn't really have much motivation to progress past his own amusement to begin with. Idiots can speed away or take it as weakness or whatever, he really couldn't care less.
- is notably softer around animals, except fish.
- was born on 22 March, 1989.
- has never visited an amusement park.
