Akane Shimada
Colourless | 19 | Pansexual
Full name: 島田, 茜, or Shimada, Akane. You can simply call her Akane if you wish.
Gender: Female
Occupation: She's a college student.
Home: Switches between college dorms and her parents' homes.
Face Claim: Houraisan Kaguya from Touhou
Appearance:

Hair: Smooth long back hair that is straightened every day to keep it from curling at the ends. Her hair ends at the back of her knees, though if she pulls it into a partial bun or ponytail, it ends at the middle of her back. She rarely wears any trinkets or accessories in her hair unless with a yukata, in which she may adorn ribbons or charms, but otherwise only puts clips into her hair to pull back the bangs that hang just above her eyes.
Eyes: A soft brown, with flecks of green around the irises.
Height: 5' 3"
Weight: 114 lbs
Unique Features: She has burn scars on her wrists that never quite healed properly when she was child due to delayed treatment.
Body:
- Overall very thin and only has the barest hint of muscle on her arms and legs from a casual lifestyle.
- Medium sized chest and straight back from years of having proper posture being driven into her head.
- She has a diamond shaped face with smooth features and a somewhat big forehead.
- Considered to be petite in size and stature, but has bony fingers.
- She has long legs and small feet.
Clothing Style: Akane normally wears skirts and blouses on her more casual days, with the former normally being soft, pastel colors in order to contrast starkly with her normally patterned black skirts. She wears ribbons and ties with her blouses and dress shirts, but this is likely out of an effort to spruce up her attire rather than appear professional. She has no qualms with wearing sundresses and hats if it becomes sunny, though she does require more convincing to wear something more than long sleeved blouses in the snowy and rainy seasons. Her shoes seem to change with the day honestly, from switching to tennis shoes, to flats, to even boots that come up to her knee or just before it. For formal attire, she normally wears long evening gowns, purple or blue more often than not, and simple yet dressy black high heels.

- often underestimated due to her reputation and physical appearance.
- does not deal well with stress, at all
- suffers from a form of maladaptive daydreaming, which causes her to space out excessively even while she's doing something else, such as walking or working on homework. This worsens when she's stressed or tired, and is only helped by frequent conversation; however, other than the meds she's taking for the wrong disorder, she's gone undiagnosed for awhile now.
- has a horrible sense of direction, and will get lost without a doubt.
- cannot throw a punch even if her life depended on it
She does have fears, though, of being separated from her adopted family or her new friends. Also is afraid of fire, honestly, though she doesn't share that with the Homra members purely because she doesn't want to hurt their feelings or feel as though she dislikes them personally.
Habits:
- hums while spacing out, the only other indicator to it other than her reduced speed in accomplishing tasks and belated responses to occasional conversations.
- face shuts off when being yelled at, meaning she fixes her lips into a calm, but hard smile.
- oftentimes will share her daydreams with those that will listen, because honestly, they are usually peaceful and fun, it's just that they're very disruptive and consuming in her life.
- twitches when getting sick of sitting in one spot for too long
- has a laugh that sounds like a series of delighted cackles, and it's often loud enough to be heard from down the hall in school.

Background:

••••••
Birthplace: Field of Tokyo, Japan
Family: Kanjiro Shimada, adopted father, 43; Sakura Shimada, adopted mother, 38; Chihiro Tomae , adopted cousin; Yukari Nagito, deceased biological mother.
History: Akane's history is rather simple, all things considered. She was born to a single mother, Yukari Nagito, in the boonies of the Tokyo region, farmland honestly. They lived in a simple town, where everyone knew each other's names, family, life story. Akane lived there happily with her mother, despite the humble lodgings and one bedroom that they both shared, for five years, even attended school and made friends. Were it not for the fire that burnt half the town away one hot summer, then likely they would have stayed there for another decade, perhaps two. But the fire did come, in the night even, and it licked fiercely at the wood and structures of their home, destroying whatever it touched. Akane made it out, probably only because her mother pushed her out of the way of a falling bookshelf just after they'd rushed down the stairs, but her wrists had been burned getting out of the house, getting help for her mother. But her mother died, from carbon monoxide poisoning they said to her delicately as she hid her burns, even if she didn't believe them. Four days she spent on their porch steps, cradling burnt wrists that revealed sensitive muscles and hurt so much, and only left when she was forced away after passing out from a lack of food.
After a two week stay in the hospital, she was put in the Tokyo Orphanage Center, where she was often isolated. Other kids there didn't like that she'd ramble, or talk about her mother. Or that she'd known her mother at all, considering the number that'd been simply abandoned, left on the steps of the building when they'd been just babies. Akane didn't blame them or begrudge them, but simply took it as a way of the world. Her mother had said city folk were harsher after all, and if that's how they were, then Akane simply couldn't change that. Not that she dealt with them very long; after six months, she was adopted by the Shimada family, of which was a businessman, Kanjiro, and a capable lawyer, Sakura. They were awfully rich, which honestly confused Akane at the time considering she'd grown up with relatively nothing, but were still extremely kind. They loved her like their own child, the child they'd have had were it not for the fact that Sakura was infertile according to her aunts and grandmother.
She grew up with them, indebted and loving as though they were her honest family. That's how she viewed them anyway, a real mother and father, even as the news would inevitably leak out and other children would jeer. She tried her best to not embarrass them, taking their lessons and the harsh days in classier schools with head held high even as the daydreams, which had started shortly after the age of seven, began to consume half of her days. They wanted her to take over the business, see, and she tried her best to follow through with that, figuring it was the least she could do after they took her in and raised her as their own. And she figured she couldn't complain when they came to her, marriage proposal in hand, excited and beaming.
Shortly before she was accepted into a college, she suffered from a breakdown of sorts. The daydreams had become malicious, unbearable even, a stark change from when they'd been peaceful and even enjoyable, and she couldn't escape them by herself. Her family took her to a psychiatrist, who looked at her and deemed she suffered from an intense anxiety disorder, maybe even PTSD as well, and sent her away with pills that her parents begged her to take after they made her promise to tell them if she ever felt so badly again. Except, the pills made it worse, kept her from sleeping, made them more starkly present, and she didn't want them to worry. So she didn't tell them, still doesn't, not even when people look at her and think she's crazy.
She met Akihiko Hayashi, the Colourless King, when she was visiting the University shortly before her admission into it, offering him mochi ice cream because it was so hot and casually telling him he had a hero scarf, something she never quite elaborated on even as he flushed in front of her and ran away. After more time spent together, in which he saw her struggles with her family's expectations and her surroundings, he offered her a place to be where she could just be Akane, regardless of what she saw or thought. Naturally, she accepted. The rest after that, well, is history, and had her joining Winter, unbeknownst to everyone, even her family.
Present day has her studying at the University here, for a business degree that she doesn't really care about but feels obligated to achieve, and as a colourless clan member.

Abilities: Naturally, the ice she's been gifted as a member of Winter. She's capable of freezing the ground in a twelve foot radius while moving, as well as making small ice walls to impede people's paths. Likely she could make ice spikes if she wanted to, or in a lapse of control in danger, but she does not out of the simple fact that she doesn't wish to really seriously hurt anybody. Often she fights by sliding across the ice and moving out of the way of people; so maybe it's not really fighting, but rather dancing on ice, but she has fun with it regardless.
Trivia:
- Born April 16th, 1993
- She's extremely superstitious when it comes to folk tales
- She is widely hated by her extended family, with the exception of Chihiro, who only is mildly annoyed by her. But she cares about Chihiro anyway.
- Once a year visits her mother's grave to bring flowers and talks to her headstone about what all has happened since the last time she visited for the entire day.
- Even though she's in Winter, her favorite season is spring.
